Arizona Man Faces Second Extreme DUI Charges
Pulled over just this past week and found to have an astronomical blood alcohol content, Doron Sears is facing extreme DUI charges for the second time.
Sears underwent field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer when he was pulled over this week in Scottsdale. Officers smelled alcohol on his breath and also found an open container in his vehicle.
The breath test found Sears to have a blood alcohol level of .40. The legal limit in Arizona is .08. This means he was driving with more than 5 times the legal limit.
According to AzFamily.com this is the second such charge for Sears, who was convicted of extreme DUI in 2003 as well. For this conviction he did some time in jail and was also required to have an ignition interlock device installed in his vehicle.
Extreme DUI charges apply when you are discovered to have a blood alcohol level over .15. In most extreme DUI cases, you will serve jail time. You will also likely be ordered to pay fines, have your license suspended and have an ignition interlock device installed.
An ignition interlock device is a sort of breath test designed to ensure DUI offenders are not getting behind the wheel after drinking. It works by requiring you to breath into the machine before you are allowed to start your car. This type of restriction can be very inconvenient and tiresome.
You don’t have to be charged with extreme DUI to get harsh penalties, however. If you are facing charges of DUI you will also likely be required to have an ignition interlock device installed.
There are options for you when facing charges like this. I may be able to help you negotiate a plea deal so you don’t have to spend any more time in jail. I have to know the details of your case first, however.
