Fort McDowell AZ Woman Rams Cars and Attempts to Elude Police after DUI Stop
An 18 year old woman is facing a slew of charges after causing some serious damage last Friday. Alina Isaac was initially pulled over for driving erratically, fishtailing, and the turning into an apartment complex while disregarding the safety of others.
According to this story from the Arizona Republic, it was after she was initially pulled over that this traffic stop got interesting. Apparently Ms. Isaac refused to shut off her engine and instead turned up her radio and gunned her engine.
After disregarding the officer’s request to shut off the car, she sped off, hitting 5 parked cars, a cable box, and a parked patrol car with an officer inside. Although the officer doesn’t seem to face severe injuries, she will face an assault charge.
In addition to aggravated assault charges, the young woman was also found to be intoxicated and will thus face extreme DUI charges and driving on a suspended license. In all, Isaac faces 10 charges.
Extreme DUI is when your blood alcohol level is found to be more than .15%, which is nearly twice the legal limit. For this charge alone, she faces a minimum of 30 days in jail, community service, fines, license suspension, and an ignition interlock device.
If her charge of aggravated assault doesn’t get pled down to a lesser offense, she is facing a serious felony. This charge is typically applied when serious injuries result or if the victim is a law enforcement officer. Isaac could face 5-15 years in prison for this offense.
Driving on a suspended license is another serious offense and one that is quite common. There is no telling why the accused initially lost her license but if it was a DUI it could impact the severity of her other charges.
All in all, this woman had a seriously bad day. More than likely she is really reconsidering her actions and wishing she could take it all back. Even one of these charges has serious ramifications. But she is facing 10!
